Common monitoring – one probe for all cultivations
Instead of 15 in situ probes, the monitoring of each cultivation can be accomplished
with one set of flow-through probes. The flow-through probes can be connected to the
sampling line enabling the measurement of pH, dissolved oxygen, redox-potential or
cell density from each withdrawn sample.

For example, one flow-through OD probe provides automated real-time information of the cell
density in each of the 15 cultivations losing only a few millilters of the cultivation volume.
In addition, the sample can be collected after measurement and taken for further analysis.
Gas analysis
The concentrations of carbon dioxide and oxygen can be measured from the exhaust gas
flow with the Gas analysis module. It enables the monitoring of all of the 15 cultivations
with one pair of gas analysis probes. A stream selector valve directs the exhaust gas flow in turn
from each vessel to the probes. The Controlware software application keeps a continuous log of the
measurements, which can be visualized during a cultivation. The measurement range of the carbon dioxide
probe is 0-10% and 0-25% for oxygen.
