Parallel cultivation
The Cultivation Unit includes 15 parallel cultivation vessels.
The volume of each vessel is 100 – 200 ml for the smaller bottles and 150 – 500 ml
for the larger bottles. Liquid and gas transportation is performed with multiple steel
capillaries. Each vessel is equipped with an in situ temperature probe and optionally
with in situ pH and DO probes.

Sterilization is performed by autoclaving the vessel holder
The 15 cultivation vessels are placed close to each other in a stainless steel holder, which is autoclaved together.
All vessels are connected to liquid and gas lines with flexible silicone tubing. Each vessel has its own pinch valve
that separates it from common liquid lines. Before starting a cultivation, all tubing is connected to the cultivation
vessels and the whole vessel holder with the tubing is
autoclaved together. Pinch valves and automated wash sequences guarantee asepticity during cultivation and sampling.
