Efficient design for minimized dead volume

The Cultivation Unit has modular liquid transport capabilities with small dead volumes. Maximum efficiency is achieved with a compact design and software controlled pumps and valves. When connected to the Sampling Unit, a user may withdraw samples from each vessel according to automated sampling sequences. Modular design also enables the connection of third party equipment to the Cultivation Unit.

Versatile sampling possibilities

The Explorer provides two different ways to perform the sampling procedures. A sample can be withdrawn to the inline modules or to the Sampling Unit using either a pump or overpressure. A pump is mainly used for rapid sampling and larger sample volumes. Small samples with small dead volume can be withdrawn using overpressure. This can also be used to maximize the number of samples taken from the cultivations. Sample withdrawal using overpressure allows for the careful transportation of fragile mammalian cells.
