The Sampling Unit enables the automatic withdrawal and storage of liquid samples at laboratory-scale from bioreactors.
The Sampling Unit is designed for rapid sampling from multiple cultivations grown in the Cultivation
Unit, but the device can also be connected to one or more conventional bioreactors. Samples can be
taken repeatedly at variable volumes, rates and time intervals, according to the programmed sampling
sequence. The samples are withdrawn by a separate pump connected to the Sampling Unit. The tubing line can be
washed between samples with an appropriate fluid e.g. alcohol, to avoid contamination.
Samples can be freezed or modified for further offline measurements.
Samples can be frozen by adjusting the temperature of the cold bath around the sample tubes. Also, samples can be fixed by adding
suitable chemicals into the sampling tubes prior to the withdrawal of the sample.
For example, the metabolism of cells can be quenched for the later analysis of intracellular metabolites.
The Sampling Unit can be connected with the Cultivation Unit as well as other 3rd party bioreactors.
The sampling line can be attached to any cultivation device with an aseptic sampling port.
Two tube carousels are available, one for 45 x 50 ml sample tubes and one for 105 x 15 ml sample tubes.
